For light liquid hydrocarbon pollution control.
Bypass seperators are used in low risk areas ie: car parks and roadways. Bypass seperators are designed to treat the first 10% of the surface water runoff. The first flush from the surface is typically the most contaminated. The runoff enters the unit where any solids present sink to the bottom and are retained in the first chamber. The oil and water pass through to a second chamber where they partially seperate due to the immiscibility of the components. As rainwater builds and the surface water entering the unit exceeds the design flow, further runoff is diverted to bypass the second chamber and exit the unit.
The NSBD series is one of the first full ranges of bypass seperators to be performance tested to BS EN858-1. The series incorporates a proven bypass system, unique in operational reliability. Competitive types can bypass prematurely with the risk of pollutant passing forward to outlet.
The system is proven to bypass in excess of nominal flow, after oil pollutant has been diverted and entrapped in the retention chamber.
Other important features include a high discharge standard (certified to less than 5mg of pollutant per litre of effluent for Class 1 Units), integral silt holding capacity and exceptional structural integrity.
All seperators are designed to meet Environmental Agency PPG3 regulations that came into force in April 2006.
