Q: What is the life expectancy of cast iron?
A: Cast iron has a life expectancy of 40+ years depending upon maintenance.
Q: How often should I paint my cast iron guttering system?
A: You should maintain your system at least twice a year, idearly at the beggining of autumn and again in the spring by cleaning out any rainwater hopper heads, checking that joints and fixings are secure and checking that all gutters and downpipes are free from debris.
Q: Can cast iron be used in all geographical locations?
A: Cast iron can be used in most locations, but where salt content is high (highly exposed coastal areas) an aluzinc steel gutter system will perform better. This can be found in our Lindab Steel Section.
Q: What is the European or British Standard that covers cast iron rainwater systems?
A: BS 460:1964
