An easy to follow guide to RAL Colours

What are RAL colours?

‘RAL colours’ is a colour matching system that is well known and used throughout the UK and Europe.

First established as an independent quality assurance organisation in 1925, with the beginning of colour standardization first starting in 1927 - RAL colours quickly became the norm and a great way for manufacturers to ensure colour quality across their product ranges.

Door manufacturers such as Rockdoor (the UK’s leading composite door manufacturer), Homeline (leaders in the manufacturing of uPVC fascias, soffits & cladding) and of course above and below ground drainage manufacturers including FloPlast, Alumasc and Brett Martin all use RAL colours to assure quality and as a guide to the end user.

The RAL colour system has now become so popular and well known that it’s hard to find an industry that doesn’t use the colour assurance system.

What does RAL colours mean to me?

Whether you’re an experienced installer or a DIY enthusiast it’s very likely that you will require a RAL colour if you’re updating your rainwater system.

If you’re looking to match your new rainwater systems with your existing doors, windows or roofline, by having the RAL colour of the existing items it can make your life a lot easier.

Many of our Stainless Steel and Aluminium gutters can be powder coated to create a hard wearing finish in a colour of your choice (some limitations may apply depending on the manufacturer you choose).

Colour Guide by Manufacturer

To make it easier for you, we’ve collated all of the RAL data for our best selling above ground drainage brands, so if you’re looking to match it to a window, door, or even to a shade that you think will complement your existing roofline – it’s likely that we’ll have a manufacturer that can help you achieve this!
